The Science of Max Periodization
"MAX Periodization" is a systematic approach to working out that involves progressively cycling through different phases over a specific period of time. This systematic phase approach to fitness will transform your body into a leaner, toner, stronger specimen and will also eliminate the "burnout effect", while reducing the risk of injury. The ESP-XC achieves this by challenging the body's long-term output and core stability in the Endurance phase, increasing resistance for the musculo-skeletal system in Strength phase, and overall force production and neuro-muscular stress in the Power phase. Endurance
The purpose of this phase is to rapidly max how the neuro-muscular system interact. The focus is on building a solid foundation by improving muscle balance, body control, and muscle-nerve response to ensure optimum performance. This is achieved by performing all exercises utilizing your body weight for higher reps over a set amount of time (typically 1-2 minutes). With the goals being to burn fat, reduce muscle fatigue and increase conditioning levels.
Strength
Now that the fitness base has been laid in the Endurance phase, it's time to maximize muscle mass. The Strength phase attacks the skeletal muscles through increased resistance and volume of exercises per body part. This will lead to increased lean body mass, improved strength and developing a more defined body.
Power
Since the strength phase has increased the amount of muscle in the body, the power phase will look to increase the efficiency of those muscles by increasing the rate at which those fibers contract. This is accomplished by improving power production through explosive movement throughout the entire body. The Power phase is designed to give any athlete a competitive advantage in their sport or activity.
